A HEARTFELT FAREWELL TO A GOOD LEGEND – HON RAILA AMOLLO ODINGA.
Dear Baba Jakom Raila Odinga,
From my young age, I have been a steadfast supporter of yours, a man who has truly stolen the show as the father of democracy and a relentless fighter for the rights of Kenyans, especially against oppressive governments. Since 1997, when I was just a village young boy, I admired you deeply. I remember praying to God that one day I would become like you—courageous, determined, and unwavering in the fight for justice.
Throughout the years, my support for you has never wavered. In every election, I stood firmly by your side. When you competed with the late President Mwai Kibaki in 2007, I was 100% behind you, even when my family disapproved of my unwavering loyalty. Again, in 2013 and 2022, I supported you wholeheartedly, often being called "Azimio" by friends and supporters who recognized my dedication. My allegiance to you was evident in my words, my actions, and even in my everyday interactions—calling out your name more than any other, fighting for your cause in workplaces and social gatherings. I have lost friendships with many people, including my own siblings and parents, who couldn't dare to support me due to societal misconceptions about you. But this didn't make me withdrawal my loyalty to you all through.
However, recent events have profoundly affected my political heart. The killing of young people, the Gen Z generation, by President Ruto's government ignited a deep anger within me. The rising taxes, economic decline, and betrayal I felt when you, my long-time hero, aligned with President Ruto—who has done so much harm to our nation—left me politically fatherless. My trust in you was shattered.
Yet, amid this darkness, God showed His faithfulness. The emergence of H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH from nowhere in Mombasa, to stand boldly with the Gen Z who were killed in hundreds during their demonstrations which took part country wide, brought a renewed hope to my heart. It was as if a new Moses had risen—someone to continue the journey after your departure. I cried tears of relief and gratitude, calling friends and loved ones to share the revival of my hope. Like Joshua and Caleb, Gachagua now represents the new hope for Kenya’s future, and I now stand firmly behind him.
Many may call me tribalist for my support of Rigathi Gachagua, but my patriotism is unwavering. Supporting Raila Odinga, a Luo, over Kikuyu leaders like Kibaki and Uhuru, never made me feel tribal. Today, I am a die-hard supporter of Gachagua—trusting and believing in his leadership. I will speak of him boldly, day and night, until he wins the presidency in 2027. His fearless, determined, and dedicated character assures me he has what it takes to lead Kenya into a brighter future.
As Raila Odinga, you now seem to be on your final journey—your political chapter nearing its end. I wish you well in your future endeavors and life beyond politics. We have shared a good life, Baba Jakom, and it’s time to part ways. Thank you for your sacrifices, your fight, and your unwavering dedication to Kenya.
Goodbye, Baba Raila Odinga. May your legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
With deep respect and gratitude,
Hon Paul Mwangi.
Magarini MP 2027.
