A CRY FOR HELP FROM MAGARINI: INSECURITY RIFE, IMMEDIATE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION NEEDED.
The people of Magarini are living in fear. The brutal murder of Mr. Phillip Mwakindi, a respected senior citizen, pastor, and community pillar, in Mulunguni this past Friday is a stark and terrifying reminder of the pervasive insecurity that plagues this region. His death, just kilometers from the main Baricho-Marafa road, underscores the vulnerability of residents in an area where police presence is virtually non-existent.
For too long, the people of Magarini have pleaded with the government to establish more police stations. The vast distances between the existing stations in Baricho and Marafa leave the interior areas unprotected and ripe for criminal activity. It is deeply concerning that residents can travel for many kilometers without encountering a single police station, leaving them feeling abandoned and exposed. The lack of regular police patrols is a grave issue, with many residents reporting not seeing police in their area for years.
This tragic loss of Pastor Mwakindi is a devastating blow to the community and a clear indicator that the current security arrangements are woefully inadequate. Magarini residents are Kenyans who pay their taxes, yet they are denied the fundamental right to security.
We urgently call upon the government, specifically Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, to visit Magarini immediately and witness the dire situation firsthand. Action must be taken to save this community from the grips of fear and insecurity. We urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the police to launch a thorough investigation into Pastor Mwakindi's murder, ensuring that the culprits are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice. It is unacceptable for any part of Kenya, including Magarini, to be neglected to this extent.
We implore the government to prioritize the safety of its citizens in Magarini. This includes establishing several new police stations in the area, ensuring they are fully equipped with vehicles and all necessary resources for effective patrols and operations. Furthermore, providing chiefs with police support could significantly enhance security efforts at the local level. The police must be adequately motivated to ensure the safety of the people is never compromised.
The challenges in Magarini extend beyond security, with reports of electricity infrastructure remaining non-operational for months after installation, further highlighting the lack of essential services.
The people of Magarini are tired and can wait no longer for meaningful action. We need to see the government demonstrate its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its citizens.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Pastor Mwakindi and to the entire community of Mulunguni and Magarini for getting this profound loss. May his legacy of promoting good behavior inspire continued efforts towards a safer society.
We welcome the DCI and all relevant authorities to Magarini and urge them to work diligently to resolve this critical situation. The time for action is now.
Rest in peace mzee Mwakindi may those who killed you lack peace.
Paul Mwangi(PM).
